It is not surprising when I think of pregnancy when my appetite seems to be in the mood to eat plenty. When I just ate and still hungry, am I pregnant? The craving for more food even after a meal is suspicious especially when I am hoping to conceive. Being hungry all the time may or may not be because you are pregnant.

If I am often hungry, am I pregnant?
I am feeling hungry again, even after eating. It is funny when I think about. Even after I am done with my meal, I still look for more. I have to recheck the fridge again for something delish to eat. This must be my baby demanding more food for nourishment!
When I called my OB about it, she said that this condition is a sign of pregnancy. However, unless I show positive after the pregnancy test, I cannot be so sure. She explained that being pregnant, a woman increases calorie intake by an average of 300 calories per day. Hence, I must listen to what my body tells me and eat more than the usual portions.
However, I am not encouraging you to eat as much as you can. As a mother to be, you must be responsible to the limit of what you need to eat. I do enjoy my pregnancy and constantly give in to my cravings, but I make sure to indulge in moderation. In fact, I switched to healthy snacks like nibbling veggies and fruits.
Therefore, if I want to give my baby a healthy environment inside my womb, I have to cut down my sweets and salts for the rest of the nine months. I may be one of those women who feel the pang of hunger during the first trimester, but some experiences happen during their second trimester right after the nausea sensation subsides.
What to do when I want to eat more, and I am pregnant?
I got my positive result big time. Yeah! Are you pregnant too? I have taken advantage of my increase in appetite by doing what is best for my baby.
Here are some tips that my OB instructed to me. I know that this is useful to you as well.
Drink plenty of fluid
Keep yourself hydrated. Sometimes your body takes dehydration as hunger. Help your baby develop properly by taking in the right amount of liquid. Now, you will need more water than ever.
Your goal must be an average of 12-13 glasses a day. If you have been sweating a lot, you may increase your liquid intake as long as you avoid soda and other sweet drinks.
Maintain a healthy diet
Satisfy your hunger with nutritious food like vegetables, fruits, whole grains, proteins, and healthy fat. Make sure to stick to fresh food and avoid the reprocessed kind. Mind your calories as well keeping it to an average of 400 calories daily. Hence, keep a stock of healthy food in the fridge and pantry.
Eat small frequent meals
To prevent overstuffing yourself, I recommend eating small but frequent meals. If you overeat, you may suffer from gas, bloating, heartburn, and may further upset your stomach. Just eat bit by bit, avoiding the feeling of hunger.
Keep an eye on your weight
Watch out for your pregnancy weight gain. I understand that the hunger pangs are a way of your body’s response to catch up with the nourishment I need. However, if you are gaining more weight than needed, you might need help from your doctor. The hunger will continue from the first to second trimester but expect that it will eventually subside on the third trimester.
It is seldom when a woman does not feel the pang of hunger when pregnant. The body will not fail to ask for what it needs. When it is making a baby, it would need all the nourishment that it can take. I guess, a mother’s instinct responds unto that.
The only way to know that your hunger pangs are because you are pregnant is to consult your doctor and take a pregnancy test. If you are pregnant, then congratulations, your baby is sending a message to you for the first time. If you are not pregnant, I recommend seeking further advice from your doctor.
